Man at the hardware store told me 5G towers are making his tomatoes taste metallic

I was at Lowe's last Tuesday grabbing a new nozzle for my hose when this older guy in the gardening aisle just starts talking to me out of nowhere. He holds up a tomato and says 'you can taste the signal' with a completely straight face. Told me he moved his whole garden 200 feet away from a cell tower and the flavor came back after 3 weeks. I just nodded and walked away but honestly I still think about that conversation whenever I eat a salad. Has anyone else run into a produce-based conspiracy theory out in the wild?

That "you can taste the signal" line is wild. I read somewhere that plants can actually pick up electromagnetic fields, but nobody knows if it changes how they taste.

That guy was probably picking up something from his own garden hose not a tower. People blame weird stuff on 5G when it's usually just bad soil or old pipes.
