My neighbor's yard went from normal to a full on crop circle in one night

I live in Springfield and woke up yesterday to see a perfect spiral pattern flattened into his corn. The stalks were bent, not broken, and the soil wasn't disturbed at all. He swears he heard a low hum around 2 AM. Has anyone seen something like this happen, or is this just a really dedicated prankster with a board?
