Shoutout to my buddy in Cleveland who finally convinced me to watch that flat earth documentary he's been on about for months.
I had to choose between watching it with him (and his wild running commentary) or just reading the summary online, so I went with the full movie experience and now I have a list of 17 specific 'proofs' I need to look up (like the Bedford Level experiment, which I'd never even heard of).

The Bedford Level experiment is a new one for me too. Which of the 17 proofs did you find the most, well, creative? I'm guessing the commentary from your friend was its own kind of proof that some ideas just won't fly.

Some ideas just won't fly" - yeah, that's the nice way to put it. Honestly I don't get why people get so worked up over this stuff. It's not like flat earthers are out there changing policy or launching rockets. They're just people watching bad YouTube videos. The Bedford Level thing is funny because it's so old school. Like using a telescope on a river bank. Who cares if it's wrong? It's just a weird hobby. If your friend wants to waste an afternoon on that, let him. It's not worth getting all defensive about.

Wait, he made you sit through the whole thing with live commentary? That's a special kind of friendship test right there. I would have cracked after the first "proof" about boats disappearing over the horizon. How did you not just start arguing with the TV?
