The 3 hour detour to find a replacement tire valve in Austin
Last Saturday I had a slow leak in my truck tire and figured it was just a loose valve core. I stopped at two auto parts stores in Austin and neither had the right size for my older model. The third store had it in the back but only after a clerk spent 20 minutes digging through drawers. Then I realized I needed a special tool to remove the old core without losing all the air. It took me over 3 hours total for something I thought would be a 15 minute stop, and I still ended up watching a YouTube video in the parking lot to get it right. Has anyone else burned a whole afternoon on a simple fix that just would not cooperate?

The tool thing gets me every time, I have a drawer full of valve core removers and none of them fit my Dodge properly either. Did you end up keeping that special tool or was it one of those one-time buys that you'll never see again until you need it for something else? I swear my garage is basically a museum of stuff I bought for single emergencies like that.
