Unpopular opinion: I hid my doubts when my coworker went off about 5G towers

Honestly, my desk mate at work would not stop talking about how 5G towers were causing health problems last month. Tbh, I read up on it and everything points to it being safe, but he had all these forum posts and videos. Ngl, I worried that correcting him might make the office tense or even get me labeled as naive. It felt like a choice between keeping peace or stepping into a debate I didn't want at my job. I just nodded along and changed the topic to the weather, which still bugs me. Was I wrong to avoid that conversation? How do you handle it when someone's conspiracy talk mixes with daily life like that?

Lol my uncle still brings up chemtrails at family dinners. At a certain point you just gotta ask if it's worth the energy. Like, is your coworker actually changing their mind, or are you just signing up for an hour of youtube links? Sometimes nodding and moving on is the only sane move.

Imagine citing forum posts as proof!

That's a tough spot, but @finley_lopez98 has a point about picking your battles. Thing is, just nodding can make them think everyone agrees. Maybe next time you could just say you checked the science from health agencies and it put your mind at ease, then pivot. Lets you drop some truth without starting a big fight.

My neighbor's work group chat blew up over moon landing hoaxes last spring. He said most people just read it and moved on, which let the talk keep going. Sometimes you have to say something, even if it's just pointing to a trusted source.
