My bent carrots taste better than the straight ones from the store, what's the deal?

Pulled up a bunch of carrots from my clay patch last Tuesday and half of them look like they're doing yoga, but they're way sweeter than the perfect ones I buy for $3 a bag. Anyone else notice the ugly ones just hit different, or am I fooling myself?

Same here, my crooked ones from the garden always taste way more earthy and sweet than the store ones.
