My crooked carrot made me rethink everything after a chat with my neighbor

I pulled this gnarly twisted carrot from my garden last week, looked like it got into a fight with a fork. My neighbor Bob walked by and said 'that ugly thing probably tastes better than any straight one from the store'. I laughed at first but he was right, that carrot was sweet and crunchy. It made me think about how we judge produce by looks instead of taste. Has anyone else had a weird shaped vegetable that surprised you with flavor?

Started picking my own tomatoes and peppers this year, best decision ever. Nothing beats grabbing something fresh off the plant.
