My kale grew in a twisted spiral after I forgot to water for a week, did that $15 drip timer actually fix it or is it just luck?

I dropped $15 on a cheap drip timer at Home Depot after my kale started looking like a curly fry, and now it's growing straight again, but I'm not sure if the timer is the hero or if the plant just bounced back on its own, anyone else have a random fix that might just be coincidence?

Isn't it wild how the stuff that should be simple ends up being such a gamble? I mean, I've noticed it with my car too, like, the mechanic says it's a basic fix but it never works out that way. Or even cooking sometimes, you follow the recipe to the letter and it still comes out weird. Idk, maybe it's just the universe keeping us humble, like nothing is ever truly a sure thing.
