My neighbor's half-dead tomato plant made me a better gardener
So my neighbor across the street has this one tomato plant that looks like it went through a blender, leaves all curled and brown spots everywhere, but the fruit tastes incredible. I asked her about it last Tuesday while we were both watering and she just laughed, said she ignores it mostly and only feeds it once a month with cheap fish emulsion. That got me thinking about how I baby my plants with fancy nutrients and daily checks, and mine taste like water. She said stress makes them concentrate flavor, which sounds like bro science but I tried her lazy method on two plants this week and they're already sweeter. Anyone else got a scrappy plant that outperforms the pampered ones, or is my neighbor just a witch?
