My neighbor's twisted carrot made me rethink 10 years of garden aesthetics
She pulled up this mutant carrot that looked like a deformed foot, took a bite, and said 'ugly ones always taste better' - now I'm wondering how many perfect-looking veggies I've been growing that have no flavor at all. Has anyone else noticed the ugly produce actually tasting way better?

And that bit about the "ugly ones always taste better" really got me thinking. It's like with people, right? We put so much effort into making everything look perfect and uniform that we might be losing the real substance underneath. The produce section is a perfect example, all those identical apples and carrots are probably grown for their looks and shelf life, not for their actual taste. Same thing with houses and lawns and social media profiles, it's all about the perfect image instead of what's actually good inside. So maybe that mutant carrot is trying to teach us a bigger lesson about valuing function over appearance. Why are we so hung up on things looking a certain way when the real value is in how they work or taste anyway?
