My zucchini plant looked like a twisted mess but the taste was incredible

I planted three zucchini seeds in a tiny raised bed behind my garage in Cleveland this spring. One of them came up all crooked and the leaves got this weird yellow spotting that never went away. By August it was producing these lumpy, curved zucchinis that looked nothing like the perfect ones at the store. I almost pulled the whole plant because I was embarrassed to have people see it. But my neighbor said to just cook one up and see, so I sliced it thin and sauteed it with garlic. It was the sweetest, most tender zucchini I have ever eaten, way better than the pretty ones from the farmer's market. Has anyone else grown a plant that looked terrible but gave you the best tasting vegetables?

Man that's always how it goes with the ugly ones, they put all their weird energy into flavor instead of looks.

Nah you're right, the ugly fruit always has the best personality. I pick my avocados based on which ones look like they've seen some things.
