A client told me my laptop stand was too loud and I hated her for it

She was right. I was using a cheap mesh stand in a Bali coworking space and it rattled every time I typed. I switched to a solid aluminum one for $35 and now I actually hear the birds outside instead of that buzzing. Anyone else get defensive over feedback that turned out to be spot on?

That line about "the thing you already knew was annoying but didn't want to admit" is so real. I read somewhere that our brains actually try to block out consistent annoying sounds to protect us, so we don't even realize how bad it is until someone points it out.

That line about "hearing the birds outside instead of the buzzing" really hit me. I had a similar thing happen with a webcam stand that was this flimsy plastic thing and it would shake every time I moved my head. A coworker told me it made her dizzy watching me on calls and I was honestly PISSED for like a week. Eventually I caved and got one with a metal arm and a weighted base and it's crazy how much smoother everything feels now. Sometimes you just need someone to call out the thing you already know is annoying but didn't want to admit.
