Had a chat with a fellow nomad in a Lisbon laundromat that stuck with me

I was waiting for my clothes to dry at Lavandaria Self Service on Rua de São Bento and this guy named Tom started talking to me. He told me he'd been bouncing between hostels for 8 months but never actually saw any of the cities he visited because he was always working. He said something like "I'm paying rent in 20 different countries and never even left my laptop." Idk, it made me wonder if we're all just moving our office somewhere else instead of actually traveling.

My first month in Thailand I spent more time in coworking spaces than I did actually seeing temples.

Yeah that hits hard, it's like we're just paying to work in different time zones.

Ugh, seriously! It's like the whole point was to escape all that.
