My laptop died mid-Zoom call with a client in Bali
Was presenting a cleaning schedule I designed for her villa. Screen went black. Fan went quiet. Dead silence. I'm sitting in a coworking space in Ubud with no backup. Had to borrow a stranger's Chromebook for 20 minutes. She was cool about it but I almost had a heart attack. Anyone else travel without a backup machine?

Yeah, now I carry a cheap backup Chromebook in my bag everywhere.

Showed up to a coffee shop in Da Nang once with my laptop bag slung over one shoulder and my whole hard drive fried from the humidity and heat. Lost three years of client files, photos, everything. Had been meaning to back it up for months but you know how it goes. Now I carry a tiny external SSD in my bag and sync everything to a cloud folder whenever I have wifi.
