My video call with a client in Berlin got crashed by a monkey stealing my laptop in Ubud last week.

I was explaining a project timeline when a macaque ran in, grabbed my MacBook Air off the bamboo table, and tried to eat a keycap while my client watched his own face freeze on screen from 9,000 miles away.

I saw a documentary where macaques in Ubud have learned to steal phones for food. They target shiny objects left on tables.

Keeping a cheap decoy phone on the table worked for me, they grabbed that instead. What did you try when you were there?

Seen those videos too but honestly how often does it really happen. Most tourists just hold their phones tight and the monkeys go for easier stuff like food wrappers. Feels like the documentaries make it seem way more common than it is for clicks.
