Serious question, has anyone else been told their work setup is too loud for shared spaces?

A hostel manager in Medellin pulled me aside last month and said my mechanical keyboard was 'like a woodpecker in the library'. I swapped to a silent membrane keyboard the next day. What's your quietest gear find for not getting kicked out?

Expecting "some life" doesn't mean your noise should ruin someone else's focus.

Honestly, sometimes people need to lighten up about noise. That hostel sounds overly strict. A mechanical keyboard is just the sound of someone getting work done, and in a shared space, you have to expect some life. I kept using my blues in a co-working spot and just offered to swap seats if it bothered anyone. No one ever took me up on it.

Get where you're coming from with the swapping seats offer (that's a nice move honestly). But in a hostel, you're kind of stuck with your bunk situation, you know? It's not like a co-working spot where you can just grab another desk. Those blue switches cut through everything too, they're not really a background sound.
