Showerthought: coworking spaces in Bali are cheaper than my local coffee shop back home

I was looking at monthly rates in Ubud and found one with fiber internet for $120 a month, while my small town in Ohio charges $4.50 for a single latte... has anyone else gotten sticker shock comparing costs like this?

That's the thing that gets me though - are these coworking places actually decent for getting real work done? I mean, $120 for fiber internet sounds great on paper, but what's the vibe actually like when you show up? Lots of places market themselves as "digital nomad friendly" but then you get there and it's basically a hostel common room with people on Zoom calls everywhere, right? The UK coffee shop comparison is spot on, but a coffee shop doesn't have to worry about power outages or sketchy wifi that cuts out every 20 minutes. Have you actually worked out of that Chiang Mai spot, or was it just a price you saw listed online?

Hasn't the whole cost of living comparison just completely flipped on its head in recent years? I was looking at a coworking spot in Chiang Mai last month that was $150 for a desk and all the coffee I could drink. Meanwhile my local coffee shop here in the UK charges about the same for a week's worth of takeaway lattes.
