That coworking space membership I called a rip-off for 6 months straight

I spent $350 a month on a WeWork membership in Austin and told everyone it was just overpriced coffee and loud phone calls. Then I did the math on my coffee shop receipts from the year before and realized I was spending $420 a month on lattes and pastries just to sit in worse WiFi. Has anyone else found an expense they thought was dumb but actually saved them money in the end?

Whoa, $420 a month on coffee shop stuff? That's insane, @wesley_grant33 actually puts it perfectly, the coworking math flips everything around once you see those receipts.

Same thing happened to me in Denver. I was paying $5-7 for a drip coffee and buying lunch there too. Added it up one month and it was like $480 easy. The coworking space ended up being cheaper since it had free coffee and I started packing lunch. Plus the WiFi actually works during peak hours. My old spot had that terrible guest network that kicked you off every 30 minutes. So yeah, I felt real dumb after doing the math too. Sometimes the upfront cost blinds you to what you're actually bleeding elsewhere.
