TIL how fast a popular coworking space can go downhill
I used to work out of Hubud in Ubud back in 2019 and it was amazing. Fast wifi, good coffee, plenty of quiet spots. I went back last month after 3 years away and it was a total mess. The internet kept dropping every 20 minutes and the place was packed with people on Zoom calls in the common area. Has anyone else seen their favorite spot fall apart like this?

You said you were there in 2019 and it was great but now it's a mess. I mean, did they actually change their wifi setup or did they just let way more people in than the place can handle? Three years is a long time and coworking spaces can go from cozy to overcrowded real quick if they stop caring about the experience. I'm curious if the staff even acknowledged the internet issues when you were there or if they just pretended everything was fine. Maybe it's just me but I feel like that's the biggest red flag for any spot like that.

The guy at the front desk literally shrugged when I asked about the wifi and said “it comes and goes.” Like thanks, that's super helpful for that Zoom call I had in 10 minutes. And yeah, I think they just packed in extra desks without upgrading anything, it felt like a sardine can with laptops in there. Maybe they figured people would just give up and use their phone hotspots after a while. Did you notice if they added more people or just left the same setup to rot?
