Drywall patch took me 6 hours, is that normal or am I just slow?
I had a fist-sized hole in my hallway drywall from a doorknob. I watched like three videos where guys did it in ten minutes flat. Screw that, I ended up spending almost a whole Saturday on it. The mesh tape kept crinkling, the joint compound shrank and I had to do a second coat, then sanding made dust everywhere in my living room. By the time I painted over it, you could still see a slight bump under the light. Meanwhile my neighbor said he patches these in half an hour all the time. Is 6 hours for a small patch actually unreasonable, or does everyone just pretend it's quick so they feel better about the mess? Curious if anyone else has a similar time gap between what the pros make it look like and what it really takes.
