I fixed my own leaky faucet and tracked every cent, came to $47 total including a new wrench I didn't really need
Everyone online says call a plumber for anything past a drip, but I spent 3 hours watching videos and replaced the cartridge myself for less than a third of what they'd charge. Has anyone else found that learning one small plumbing fix saves you more than the cost of tools in the long run?

Oh, learning to fix small things around the house pays for itself fast. I've done my own toilet flapper and replaced a few faucet washers over the years. The money you save on a single service call covers any tools you buy. And once you own the tools, the next fix is basically free. It's not just plumbing either I've saved a bundle on simple electrical stuff and drywall patches. Most people are just scared to try, but three hours of YouTube is cheaper than one hour of a pro's time.
