Just realized I don't need to spend $200 on a pressure washer

I was at Home Depot last weekend picking up some PVC fittings and overheard this older guy telling the employee his $80 electric Sun Joe has lasted him 6 years. He said he only uses it twice a year for his driveway and patio and it works fine. That made me cancel my plan to buy a gas one for $300. Has anyone else gotten by with a cheap electric model or is there a catch I'm missing?

I remember reading something similar on a forum where a guy said his cheap Karcher electric model has been running for years. I think the catch is if you try to use it more than a couple times a year, they might not hold up as well. My neighbor's electric one died after a year because he used it every weekend.

Your neighbor's experience doesn't prove much in my book. One guy using a machine every weekend for a year is pretty heavy use, and plenty of cheap gas models would struggle with that too. A Karcher that dies after a year of weekly use sounds like someone didn't read the manual on storage or winterizing. I've seen electric units last a long time when people take care of them, like not leaving water sitting in the pump. The real difference is gas gives you more power and portability, not necessarily longer life. If you're using it every weekend, maybe step up to a mid range model either way.
