My neighbor swore I needed a French drain behind my shed
He said water was pooling there after every rain and I finally did it last spring. Now half my yard stays soggy and I think he just wanted me to dig a trench near his property line - anyone else had a neighbor give terrible drainage advice?

@grantthomas raises a fair point, but a buddy of mine had nearly the same situation. His neighbor swore a French drain would fix a wet spot near the fence, turned out the water was coming from the neighbor's own gutters. He spent a whole weekend digging and it only made things worse on his side.
