Pro tip: skip the level, use a laser line for tile and thank me later

Everyone told me I was crazy when I said I was tiling my bathroom in Wichita without a bubble level. 3 years of wavy tile in my first house made me swear off those things. Picked up a cheap cross line laser for 40 bucks at the hardware store. Set it up, snapped a straight line off the studs, and followed that beam the whole way. Did a 6x8 floor in one afternoon, no lippage, no cussing. My buddy who does tile for a living came over and asked who I hired. Has anyone else ditched the old school tools for a laser on a small job?

Lasers changed everything for me too. I did a backsplash in my rental kitchen last year and the bubble level had me double checking every single row. Grabbed a cheap self leveling unit and set the beam at the exact grout line height. Ran all twelve feet without stopping to measure once. The tile guy my landlord sent to inspect the work said it looked machine perfect. Now I use the laser for baseboards and even hanging shelves. Old bubble level sits in the drawer collecting dust.
