Rant: Why did no one tell me drywall mud takes 24 hours to dry?
Honestly, I tried to patch a hole in my living room ceiling last Saturday and thought it'd be done by Sunday morning. I put on one coat of mud, let it sit for like 4 hours, then tried sanding. Ngl, it was a total goopy mess and I had to scrape it all off and start over. It took me 3 days total because each coat needed a full day to dry in my damp basement. Has anyone else wasted a weekend because they didn't account for drying time?

Did you check the bucket before you started? Most of them say 24 hours right on the label, but I’ve definitely learned that one the hard way too.

Yep, checked the label after the fact and saw 24 hours. My excuse is that I was probably running on coffee and wishful thinking, figured it would be dry in an hour. Guess I earned that do-over.
