Smart thermostats aren't worth the hassle, my old mercury one never did this
Installed a Nest about 4 months ago in my house in Denver. Worked fine for a bit then last Tuesday the thing just stopped talking to my AC unit. Woke up sweating at 3am, house was 85 inside. Spent 2 hours on the phone with support, factory reset it, reconnected the C wire and finally got it working again. My old honeywell mercury thermostat from the 80s ran 20 years without a single hiccup. Anyone else have a smart thermostat randomly disconnect and leave you in a hot house?

Man, that's basically the same thing that happened to me. Tightening up the C wire at both the thermostat and the furnace panel fixed it for good. Haven't had a disconnect since.

Have you checked if the C wire connection is actually snug? That solved my Nest issues after it flaked out twice last summer.
