Spent $150 on a moisture meter before a bathroom reno and it found a leak I never would have seen
I was about to tile over the subfloor, but the reading was crazy high near the toilet flange. It turned out the wax ring had a tiny, slow leak for who knows how long. Has anyone else caught a hidden problem with one of these?

Bought one on a whim during a barn renovation. Stuck it in the wall near a pipe chase and got a reading that didn't make sense. Turned out there was a pinhole leak in a copper line behind the drywall. Would've never caught it until the whole wall was moldy and ruined. Now I take it to every job site. Saves me from ripping out good work later. Just a sanity check before I bury stuff in walls or floors.
