The estate sale drill press that rewired my whole brain

I grabbed a beat-up Craftsman drill press at an estate sale in Dayton last spring for $60, mostly cause the old guy running it said it still had "two good years left in her." Got it home, tore it down, and realized the chuck was worn uneven, every hole I drilled came out crooked. Replaced the chuck with a $30 keyless one and now I measure everything twice before I even flip the switch. Has anyone else bought used tools that needed way more work than the price suggested, or am I just the sucker who buys other people's projects?

Man, that's the classic $60 trap. In my experience, cheap tools always cost more in time than they save in cash. Still, you ended up with a solid machine, so take it as a win.
