TIL my garage ceiling fan was wired backwards for 4 years

Last weekend I finally swapped out that ugly ceiling fan in my garage for a new LED model. When I pulled the old one down, I noticed the black and white wires were swapped at the box. That explained why the fan always spun slow and hummed loud since I moved in... the previous owner must have hooked it up himself. I rewired it properly and now the new fan moves way more air than I expected. Has anyone else found janky electrical work hidden in their house?

Man I knew a guy whose dryer fan sounded like a dying cat for years before it finally gave out.
