TIL my neighbor fixed a leaky faucet with just a $3 washer from Ace Hardware

I was at Ace Hardware last Friday buying a new $50 faucet set when my neighbor Dave saw me and asked what was wrong. He showed me how to pop out the old washer and replace it in like 10 minutes, saving me the whole install headache. Has anyone else had a stranger save you money with a simple trick like that?

Did you know that some hardware stores actually offer free how-to classes on basic fixes like this? I saw a sign at a Lowe's once about a weekend workshop for fixing leaks and it blew my mind that people actually teach this stuff for free. DUDE I never even thought about that! What trips me out is that those classes are probably taught by retired tradesmen who just love passing along the old school tricks. That's a WHOLE different level of knowledge you can't get from a YouTube tutorial or a TikTok hack.
