Treated crawl space vs. vented, am I crazy for leaning sealed?

Every inspector and old timer says vents are fine, but after 4 years of musty air and a warped subfloor in my 1950s rancher here in Columbus, I sealed it up with a dehumidifier. Now I'm wondering if I fixed a real issue or just created a moisture trap for the next owner, who's had luck with either setup?
