Water heater died on a Saturday, fixed it with a $18 part

Tank started leaking at 7am on a rainy Saturday, turned out the drain valve was shot not the tank. Took 45 minutes with a pipe wrench and a brass valve from Ace, has anyone else dodged a full replacement like that?

Used to assume any leak meant new heater, but that part saved you big time.
