Cleaned my Arizer stem in hot milk and regretted it

Soaked my dirty glass stem in whole milk at a buddy's place last Friday and we drank it, now the milk has this permanent plastic smell that won't go away. Anyone else tried this and ended up ruining a whole saucepan?

Used to think this method was genius honestly. Watched a few YouTube videos where people swore by it and got this perfect golden milk that supposedly tasted like honey. Tried it myself last winter with a pretty dirty stem from some heavy use and yeah... that plastic aftertaste was absolutely brutal. Ended up tossing the whole batch because it smelled like someone melted a toy soldier into a mug of hot cocoa. Made me realize those online tutorials are really just showing you the best case scenario. Cleaning alcohol and salt is annoying but at least it doesn't ruin your kitchen stuff permanently.

Melting a toy soldier into hot cocoa" is exactly the right description, lol. I did this once with a stem that had like two months of buildup and the milk came out looking like swamp sludge. Took one sip and instantly regretted every life choice that led me to that moment. The saucepan still smells like burnt plastic and regret six months later. These YouTube tutorials make it look like you're sipping some magical golden elixir but really you're just drinking dirty stem tea with a side of chemical aftertaste. Honest to god, just toss the stem in the trash and buy a new one, it's cheaper than ruining good cookware anyway.

Wait, did anyone check if the plastic taste is actually leaching into your system or just ruining the taste? I swear I felt weird for two days after I tried it and nobody talks about that part.
