Shoutout to the budtender at Green Valley who clued me in on temp stepping

I drove up to Santa Cruz last weekend and stopped at Green Valley dispensary. The budtender there told me about temp stepping starting at 340F and going up to 390F with my dry herb vape. I tried it on some Blue Dream and the flavor difference was huge. Has anyone else played around with low temp starting points?

I mean, it's just weed, not a chemistry experiment. You really think 50 degrees makes that big a difference?

Oh, @troyp37, you'd be surprised. 50 degrees really does change things with a dry herb vape, especially at the low end. Going from 340 to 390 means you're getting completely different compounds. The terpenes that give you flavor boil off at lower temps, so starting low lets you taste them before they fade. I've been using a vape for a couple years and once I started temp stepping, it was like hearing a song in stereo after only hearing it in mono. The Blue Dream I tried at lower temps tasted almost like lemons and pine, but higher up it got more earthy. It's not about being fussy. It's just getting the most out of what you paid for. Give it a shot with a strain you know well and see if you notice.
