Warning: Check the vapor path on used devices before you buy
I picked up a used Mighty from a shop in Portland last week and when I got it home I saw the cooling unit was caked with this black sticky residue. Looked like old reclaim that had been burnt and re-vaped a dozen times. I had to soak the whole thing in iso for 2 days just to get it clean. The shop owner said they 'inspected it' but obviously they didn't pull the mouthpiece apart. Has anyone else bought a used vape that was way grosser than expected? How do you check for this stuff before handing over cash?

I actually don't mind the gunk that much on a used vape. It's gross for sure but that reclaim is basically free vaporizer hash if you know how to use it. A little iso soak and it's like new anyway, the real issue is making sure the heater and battery are solid.

Free vaporizer hash" is a wild way to talk about something that looks like it came out of a dirty ashtray. I get that you can clean it up, but that's the point - you shouldn't have to do a deep clean on something you just paid for. The shop owner lied about inspecting it, and that black sticky gunk is a health risk if someone didn't clean it right. Plus, you have no idea what kind of mold or bacteria is growing in there if it sat around crusty for weeks. The heater and battery matter, sure, but a nasty vapor path means you're inhaling someone else's old residue until you fix it. I'd rather pay a little more for a new device than gamble on a used one that might be hiding who knows what.
