People freeze up or get emotional and a coach can help you practice beforehand so you don't bomb it. It's like hiring a trainer to spot you on a heavy lift, you could do it alone but you might drop the weight on your face. The money is for the practice and the confidence, not for the words themselves. And honestly, if one session saves you from a job loss or a huge fight, it's probably worth it.
