Pro tip: Don't underestimate how long influencer partnerships take to negotiate.
Honestly, the back-and-forth emails alone can span weeks.

That marketing newsletter I subscribe to had a great breakdown of this last month. They tracked the average timeline from first outreach to signed contract, and even for micro-influencers it averaged 22 days. It really highlighted how the legal review and content usage rights are the parts that drag on, not the initial rate discussion. There's a whole hidden layer of logistics the public never sees.

Remember when I first started doing side gigs and thought a handshake deal over coffee meant the job was done? I once celebrated landing a project before the contract even showed up in my inbox. Two weeks later I was still going back and forth on where they could use my work, feeling like a total amateur who missed the whole second half of the race. It really makes you appreciate all the boring stuff that happens after the exciting yes.

Seriously! I started using a basic contract template for everything now (seriously, even tiny jobs) and it cuts the back-and-forth in half. It just puts all the boring stuff right up front.
