Can we talk about the time a client meeting in a Denver coffee shop went totally sideways?
I was pitching a website redesign to this local brewery, and the owner just slid a napkin across the table with a number on it, saying 'This is my budget, take it or leave it.' It was half my normal rate. I mean, I was about to just walk away, but then I asked him what his biggest problem was right now. He said online orders were a mess. So I said, 'Okay, for that budget, I'll fix just that one system.' He agreed, and that single project led to three more referrals from other brewers in the same building. Has anyone else had a client try to lowball you into a smaller, specific job that actually worked out better?
